Product Tutorials: Tool Changer Modules & Sub-Modules Tool
changers are the heart of a truly versatile robotic installation. They allow
“multi tasking” of the robot by being able to quickly and automatically
change end effector tooling allowing for infinite application adaptability. Tool
change can also be done manually if required. While many people think tool
changers are just for robots, this really isn’t the case. Many fixed
automation assembly machines benefit from the flexibility these products allow. Tool
changers are comprised of two halves, the Robot Module, which mounts to the
robot (in many cases by using a Mounting Module), and the Tool Modules, which
the end effector tooling mounts to. An unlimited number of Tool Modules can be
used based upon the application requirements. Tool changers not only make a
physical connection between the robot and the tool but also can connect
pneumatic and electrical utilities from the robot to the end effectors. The
catalog looks at these products in two ways; first as
coupled units and secondly as individual modules that are hot linked from
the coupled modules datasheets RISTEC makes two basic types of tool changer modules; units for internal utilities and units for external utilities. These units can be mixed and matched making four different coupled configurations. Utility modules for air and electric are also sold in sub-modular format allowing several combinations of pneumatic and electrical accessories to be tailored to the application. This makes it so that a customer does not have to pay for utilities he doesn’t need while allowing easy, “off the shelf” customization. For more detail follow the links below: | ||||||||||||||||
