Robot Module Prep and Mounting
-
If
using a Robot Module for Internal Utilities, user pneumatic and/or
electrical lines should be brought either down through the robot's hollow
quill, or brought to the inside of the module by use of RISTEC's Access
Module.
-
If
using a Robot Module for External utilities, user pneumatic and/or
electrical lines should be brought down the side of the robot quill and
connected to the supplied ports and connectors on the outside of the RISTEC
module.
-
The
Robot Module is then attached to the robot directly or by use of an adaptor
plate. To find the specific mounting for your robot, check out our robot
mounting
selection wizard.
Tool Module
Prep and Mounting
-
Your
tooling can be mounted to the tool module by purchasing a blank adaptor plate and modifying it
to match your particular mounting pattern (no adaptors necessary if your
tooling consists of another RISTEC module).
-
Air
lines can either be manifolded to your tooling if using a tool module for
internal utilities, or connected externally to you tooling when using a tool
module for external utilities.
Coupling
-
The robot module
only needs to be brought within .07" [1.8mm] of the tool module to
allow the piston to actuate and coupling to occur.
-
When
the piston in the robot module is actuated, 16 balls are forced against a
wedge in the tool module to rigidly couple the robot and tool modules
together.
-
As the
two halves engage, a piloting diameter precisely aligns the units, and all user pneumatic and electric lines are connected.
RISTEC's Tool Changers will directly
mount to ANY other RISTEC product by using a RISTEC clamp collar kit.
